The Photography Show 2020 announces speakers

The Photography Show and The Video Show reveal five more industry legends speaking on the Super Stage.

Returning to Birmingham’s NEC from 14 to 17 March, The Photography Show and The Video Show are essential for photographers and videographers of all levels, from enthusiast to professional. Now, the show includes talks by Susan Meiselas, Gavin Free, Ross Halfin, Juno Calypso and Brooke Shaden.

Expert line-up

Following a headline talk by Chase Jarvis on Saturday 14 March, Susan Meiselas is scheduled to take to the stage. Susan will share insights from her award-winning 40-year career as a documentary photographer, explore her recent projects and discuss her approach to photography.

On Sunday 15 March, Gavin Free will grace the Super Stage. The award-winning cinematographer and co-creator of The Slow Mo Guys is presenting two sessions. These will cover topics including his successful YouTube and film careers, the steps taken to get there, his passion for the subject and the tech involved in slow-motion video.

Famed music photographer Ross Halfin is giving his talk on 16 March. For more than 40 years, Ross has photographed bands such as Metallica, Aerosmith and Kiss. His portrait photography has appeared on album covers and tour programmes, as well as magazine and book covers. Topics will include his enormous body of work, his methods, and the unique relationship he has with his subjects.

Art takes centre stage

On Tuesday 17 March, artist Juno Calypso will talk about all aspects of her work. These will range from themes including self-perception and femininity, to the bizarre locations and unique aesthetic she chooses. Juno’s self-portraits have taken her from a romance-themed couples hotel to a Las Vegas bunker-mansion, and her talk isn’t to be missed.

Also on 17 March, conceptual fine art photographer Brooke Shaden will finish the Super Stage line-up. Brooke’s award-winning self-portraits are dark, whimsical and beautiful. Visitors can expect discussion on all elements of her work, including the journey to her current point and her process.
