Zhong Yi Optics Unveils Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5

Posted on Dec 17, 2021

The Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 offers a budget alternative to the Leica Summilux-M

The leading wide-aperture lenses manufacturer in China, Zhong Yi Optics, has introduced the Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 Portrait lens, compatible with Leica M, Canon RF, Sony FE and Nikon Z mounts. The lens produces high-quality portraits with the option to create softly blurred bokeh backgrounds that put the focus on the subject.

The Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 combines fast aperture and long focal lengths in a single lens. The lens uses 9 optical elements arranged in 6 groups to deliver high-quality images with sharply defined details and contrast – even at a wide aperture. Two extra-low dispersion elements reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, keeping image defects to a minimum.

The lens copes very well in low light environments when using a wide aperture, making it a good choice for night photography. The Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 replicates the light source consistently from edge to edge whilst eliminating sharp coma flare.

When used with certain automatic adapters, such as the Megadap MTZ11 and Techart TZM-01/LM-EA7, the Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm f/1.5 can be used with Nikon Z and Sony cameras, enabling quick and simple autofocus with face/eye detection.

The lens retails at around £491 for the Leica M mount, and £463 for Canon RF, Nikon Z and Sony FE mounts. For more information, please visit Zhong Yi Optics’ website.
