Make a clean start with MPB

Posted on Mar 31, 2023

March means it’s time for spring-cleaning – not to mention a great opportunity to sell on cameras and lenses you’re not using any more for some much-needed cash! MPB is on hand to help

There’s blossom on the trees, the daffodils are rising, and if you stand in the right place for long enough you might even feel the warmth of the sun on your face. It can mean only one thing – spring is here, and so is spring-cleaning!

It’s a great time of year to show your photographic gear some TLC. If you’re anything like the Photography News team, none of this will be a chore; it’s good to know that your kit is in tip-top shape – after all, it’s something you’ve invested in. And while you’re paying it the attention it deserves, now is the perfect time to decide what you need for the year ahead. Ask yourself if you are actually using all that gear accumulated over years of shooting. If not, what could you get rid of? And, most excitingly, what could you add to your arsenal to take your photography to new creative heights?

MPB is buying

If you find you have a few pieces that are surplus to requirements, why not let MPB know about them?

Say there is a kit lens you have grown beyond, or a camera body that’s been superseded by a fresh model? Trading them in is a great way to release value and get yourself closer to upgrading to kit you’ll really love using. And remember, just because you have fallen out with a particular piece of gear, it’s not useless – it could make all the difference to someone else’s photographic journey.

For decluttering, streamlining and raising funds, selling gear that you’re not using is the smart move for many photographers. And fortunately, MPB makes it ridiculously easy.

As the largest global platform for buying, selling and trading used photo and video equipment, MPB prides itself on unrivalled customer service, superb second-hand items that come with a guarantee and paying top rates for what it buys.

Once you’ve decided what you want to sell, all you need to do is head to mpb.com and type in the names of the equipment that you want to pass on. The website will bring up a list of items from its vast database, so just choose the kit you own from it and keep adding items until you’re done.

Add details about the condition, enter your email address, and in the vast majority of cases, MPB will give you a price right there and then. These are generated by a dynamic pricing engine, which cleverly combines supply and demand data with factors including age, brand and condition, so you can be sure the deal offered is accurate and competitive. If something you want to sell is not listed, bespoke quotations may be completed in minutes, and you can discuss your needs with friendly and experienced staff.

Getting paid is easy

If you’re happy with the quote, go ahead and confirm your choices, pack your kit and MPB will arrange to pick up the items for free, fully insured, leaving you with time to do something more interesting! Within a couple of days, it will be assessed by in-house experts – and if it’s in the condition you described, you’ll get your money straight away.

If you have never dealt with MPB, you will find it a surprisingly straightforward process. During the assessment, many items are actually upgraded in value once inspected. If, for any reason, you want to change your mind, MPB will ship gear back to you at no extra charge.

Of course, photographers have plenty of options when it comes to selling gear, but dealing with industry-respected professionals like MPB sees it securely shipped and quickly paid for – unlike many auction sites. And PN readers in particular trust MPB, voting it best used specialist retailer in the Photography News 2022 Awards.

You will also find that MPB is highly competitive on what it pays. For instance, the company is currently looking for high-demand items like the Canon EOS R7, Sony A7 III and Fujifilm X-T4 camera bodies; plus Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM and Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lenses.

Overall, selling your camera to MPB can be a smart choice for many photographers. It offers competitive pricing, a convenient selling process as well as a trusted reputation in the photography community – with over 19,000 reviews from satisfied customers on Trustpilot. What’s more, you’re doing your bit for the environment, too – recirculating gear by selling to MPB is far better for the planet than sending it to landfill.

So, what are you waiting for? Let the spring-cleaning begin!
