DxO announces latest version of PhotoLab for Mac and PC

PhotoLab 5 offers brand new tools and faster processing speeds for a wider range of cameras

DxO has just released the latest version of PhotoLab – PhotoLab 5 – which offers enhanced local adjustments and a more powerful PhotoLibrary. It also introduces a new DeepPRIME denoising tool and supports Fujifilm X-Trans sensors (Beta) for the very first time.

DxO PhotoLab is known for delivering powerful correction and processing solutions, such as its exclusive lens sharpness technology, which can be used alongside a whole range of other tools to enhance the quality of your images and enable freer artistic expression.

One of the latest features in this version of PhotoLab is a second type of pointer called Control Lines, which complements the existing Control Points tool. Control Lines allows users to carry out touch-ups on large areas in one go and enables photographers to make adjustments based on the luminance and chrominance of the areas they wish to edit. The addition of sensitivity settings now makes the Control Lines and Control Points features even more precise.

The PhotoLibrary is more powerful than ever, with the ability to process IPTC and EXIF data as well as third-party application synchronisations. Keyword prioritisation has been improved using an interactive tree structure, and the software’s photo library management tools have been reorganised for optimised efficiency.

PhotoLab 5 has been enhanced to offer faster processing and export times, which are now up to four times faster for Apple Silicon Mac users and 1.5 times faster for the most advanced Windows device. The quality of the RAW files produced by DxO’s DeepPRIME technology has also been improved by combining the two processes of digital noise reduction and demosaicing into one, eliminating common flaws that occur when these two processes are carried out separately.

Optical defects in the image are also eliminated automatically thanks to the addition of 605 new DxO modules, to ensure that optimum image quality is achieved.

This latest software now supports even more models than before, including Fujifilm X-Trans sensor cameras, from the X-E2 and X-70 through to the more recent X-E4, X-S10, X-T4 and X100V. DxO has created a website to collate feedback from Fujifilm users to ensure that PhotoLab 5 is catering to their needs.

Other devices that are now supported by DxO PhotoLab 5 include the Canon EOS Ra, DJI Air 2S & Mini 2, Nikon Z fc, Olympus PEN E-P7, Panasonic GH5 II, Pentax K-3 III, Sony ZV-E10.
