Leica M6 set for re-release

Posted on Oct 20, 2022

With the resurgence of analogue photography’s popularity, an icon returns: Leica is re-releasing its M6, a rangefinder camera which has been off the market since 2002.

The 2022 M6 features a rangefinder with a 0.72x magnification, battery warning indicator, and light meter showing correct exposure with a red dot – the original used two arrows. Additionally, the body is made from solid brass and all optical surfaces are coated, making the M6 tougher and less sensitive to stray light. Almost all other features, including the rewind crank and the red Leitz logo, have been preserved.

Stefan Daniel, Executive VP Technology and Operations, said: “Since 1984, countless iconic pictures have been taken with [the M6]; it was part of the product range for over 18 years and is still a fascinating camera with an extremely high utility value.”

The Leica M6 is available in stores and online from 3 November 2022. It’s currently priced at £4500. For more information, visit leica-camera.com.
