Speedmaster Mitakon 65mm f/1.4 lens released

Posted on Apr 26, 2023

The medium format Mitakon 65mm f/1.4 lens offers a range of fast benefits for portrait photographers using Hasselblad X system cameras

Built with the human eye in mind, the Mitakon 65mm f/1.4 offers a natural perspective and a 50mm angle of view for existing Hasselblad X system camera users.

Promising artistic and immersive portraits, the user has a high degree of control over depth of field, providing versatility to photographers looking to manipulate their images. The use of nine circular aperture blades gives the trademark smooth bokeh Zhong Yi Optics is known for.

The lens features two ultra-low dispersion glass elements and two high refraction index glass elements – a promising combination for sharpness across the whole frame and to minimise field curvature.

To distinguish itself from other XCD lenses, it features an internal focus design to allow for seamless adjustment of focus without any extension or retraction of the lens housing. Also, the aperture ring and focus ring feature scaling embedded in the metal barrel, while the lens hood has been redesigned to help minimise lens flare and ghosting.

The Mitakon Speedmaster 65mm f/1.4 lens is available now via the Zhong Yi Optics website and authorised resellers for $599.
