DJI Mic 3 levels up with pro features

The DJI Mic 3 is a big step up with quad recording, dual-file internal storage and timecode

DJI has unveiled the more compact Mic 3 wireless audio with support for up to four transmitters and eight receivers simultaneously. In Quadraphonic mode, paired with compatible Sony cameras or editing software, users can record four independent audio tracks – a powerful tool for panel discussions, interviews or multi-talent shoots. There’s also a special £25 adapter to use the kit with Sony cameras without any cables. However, the Mic 3 does not have a 3.5mm lav mic input anymore.

Each transmitter weighs just 16g and can be worn with either a rotating clip or a magnetic mount. DJI has even added windscreens in five colours for a more discreet look. Like previous sets, the all-in-one charging case is included, but this time transmitters can be docked without removing clips or windscreens – a big improvement for users in a hurry.

Audio quality also gets a boost with Adaptive Gain Control offering two modes: Automatic mode for suppressing sudden spikes and Dynamic mode for balancing quieter environments. There are also three new voice tone presets – Regular, Rich and Bright – plus two-level noise cancellation to tame background hums or air-con noise.

DJI has introduced dual-file 32-bit float internal recording with 32GB onboard storage per transmitter, saving both raw and enhanced versions. Crucially, each unit now embeds precise timecode, ensuring frame-accurate syncing across devices – an essential addition for pro workflows.

Other upgrades include automatic frequency hopping across 2.4GHz and 5GHz for stable transmission up to 400m, quick charging – five minutes for two hours of use – and extended run times of up to 28 hours with the case. The kit costs £259.
