Fujifilm X-E5 apes classic X100VI style adding interchangeable lenses
Fujifilm’s latest X Series model combines retro design with cutting-edge performance in a compact package

Fujifilm has revealed the new X-E5, the latest addition to its popular X Series, based on the style of the X100VI super-compact that’s been a massive sales hit.
It moves the X-E range into a much more stylish and sophisticated blend of form and function, but at a significant price hike to £1299 body-only, or £1549 in a kit with the new XF23mmF2.8 R WR pancake lens.
Available in black or silver , the X-E5 is designed for photographers who crave high-end image quality in a portable, stylish body that doesn’t compromise on performance.
Weighing just 445g, the X-E5 houses the 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 image engine, delivering lots of detail and low-light performance. It’s also the first model in the X-E range to feature a five-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system, offering up to 7.0 stops of shake compensation at the centre of the frame and 6.0 stops at the periphery – ideal for handheld photography in any lighting condition.
In a nod to Fujifilm’s analogue heritage, the X-E5 introduces a new machined aluminium top plate with a premium metallic finish and clean design lines. A newly added Film Simulation dial allows for intuitive access to the brand’s iconic looks, including user-customisable ‘recipes’.
There’s also a new Classic Display EVF mode, stripping the viewfinder to its essentials for a distraction-free experience.
Despite its retro appeal, the X-E5 is packed with modern features. An improved AF system powered by deep learning can detect a range of subjects, from animals and birds to cars, drones, and more. The rear LCD flips 180°, making it great for vlogging or selfies, and the camera supports 6.2K/30p video recording with AF tracking – bringing pro-level video to a compact form factor.
Other highlights include a new Surround View mode in the EVF, a front-mounted control lever for quick setting changes, and a digital teleconverter with 1.4x and 2.0x options. ISO 125 is now a native sensitivity, and the electronic shutter reaches speeds up to 1/180,000th sec. More info fujifilm-x.com/en-gb/
