Leica Monopan 50 revives black-and-white 35mm film

To honour a century of 35mm photography, Leica Camera AG is introducing a high-resolution black-and-white film

It’s Leica I’s 100th anniversary and with it comes a variety of photography-filled celebrations. Marking the debut of the Leica I back in 1925, the company is launching its first true Leica 35mm film: Monopan 50, a black-and-white film with 36 exposures.

Named after Leica’s Monochrom series, panchromatic sensitivity and ISO rating, Monopan 50 offers ultra-fine grain and high-resolution shooting.

Designed to complement Leica’s high-performance lenses, this ISO 50 film allows wide aperture shooting and classic Leica look, even in bright light. Monopan 50 also pairs well with Leica colour filters to enhance contrast.

Monopan 50 is perfect for landscape, architectural, cityscape and travel photography. Additionally, the new Leica black-and-white film is ideal for infrared photography, thanks to its enhanced spectral sensitivity.

Best of all, it comes in vintage-style packaging inspired by the origins of 35mm photography.

Monopan 50 will be available worldwide from 21 August 2025 at Leica Stores and authorised retailers, priced at £10.00.
