New Hasselblad brings continuous AF and price drop
Hasselblad’s new 100 megapixel X2D II 100C brings end to end HDR plus continuous autofocus and 10 stop IBIS in a redesigned body for £6400

Hasselblad has unveiled the X2D II 100C, a significant upgrade to its flagship 100-megapixel medium-format mirrorless camera. The new model raises the bar with end-to-end HDR support – the first in medium format – alongside AF-C continuous autofocus. And it’s also down in price to £6400.
It has 10-stop in-body image stabilisation, and a brighter 3.6-inch OLED screen branded at 1400 nits, 75% more luminous than its predecessor.
Continuous autofocus is powered by expanded PDAF coverage – now offering 425 zones, up from 294 – as well as LiDAR-assisted focusing and an AF illuminator for improved low-light performance. This leap forward brings more responsive subject tracking and speeds up manual focus tasks.
Hasselblad’s Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution HDR (HNCS HDR) delivers 16-bit colour depth and 15.3 stops of dynamic range, while aggressively controlling overexposure and highlight clipping. HDR images are available as HDR HEIF or Ultra HDR JPEGs. Users can edit with flair via Phocus Mobile 2, which supports HDR RAW processing and wireless control.
Despite its new capabilities, the X2D II 100C is lighter by around 7.5%, weighing in at roughly 840g with battery. It retains 1TB of internal SSD storage, adds a CFexpress Type B slot for flexibility and adopts a textured graphite-grey matte coating, improved grip and a redesigned joystick for more ergonomic handling.
Hasselblad also launched a new £4100 XCD 2.8–4/35–100E zoom, covering wide to medium-telephoto at approximately 28–76mm full-frame equivalent, with a fast f/2.8–f/4 aperture. The “E” tier lens boasts 16 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical and five ED elements, matching prime-level sharpness and autofocus speed, powered by Hasselblad’s fastest stepping motor. It also features a leaf shutter with flash sync up to 1/4000s.
