Panasonic Lumix S1RII announced
Panasonic has announced the launch of the Lumix S1RII, the latest model in its full-frame mirrorless Lumix S Series

The camera features a 44.3MP BSI CMOS sensor and an advanced L2 processing engine, designed to deliver high-resolution stills and video with improved dynamic range.
The Lumix S1RII introduces 8K video recording at 14 stops of dynamic range, a first for the Lumix lineup. It also includes an Open Gate mode with resolutions up to 8.1K and 7.2K, which will be available through a future firmware update.
Additionally, the camera supports 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW HQ internal recording to a CFexpress Type B card, reducing the need for external recorders.
Autofocus and stabilisation
The camera features Phase Hybrid Autofocus (AF) with AI-assisted tracking, designed to improve subject recognition, particularly for human faces and eyes.
It also offers continuous shooting at up to 40 fps with autofocus tracking, while the pre-burst mode captures frames before the shutter is fully pressed.
Panasonic has also updated its image stabilisation system, offering 8-stop in-body stabilisation (IBIS) and cropless electronic image stabilisation (EIS), intended to reduce video distortion while maintaining the original angle of view.

A new Lumix Flow app, expected to launch soon, will offer tools for storyboarding, file management and on-site monitoring.
Pricing and availability
The Lumix S1RII body is scheduled for release in March 2025, with a retail price of £2,999, while the kit version will be available for £3,799. Panasonic will also introduce the DMW-BG2 battery grip, priced at £299.
