Profoto launches A10 flash

Posted on Sep 23, 2020

Compact, powerful and versatile, the new Profoto A10 has a lot to offer.

When the Profoto A1 and A1X were launched just a few years ago, the lights certainly broke new ground for the brand. Today, history repeats with the new Profoto A10 – and there’s certainly plenty to admire.

Significantly, the A10 features Profoto’s AirX Bluetooth technology. As a result, for the first time ever, and in an unusual but perhaps ingenious move, users can make the most of a professional flash with a smartphone as well as a mirrorless or DSLR camera.

On this new step, Anders Hedebark, CEO of Profoto, commented: “This is a revolutionary innovation. Making professional flash available to smartphones has the potential to be groundbreaking.”

Other exciting features include HSS and AirTTL shooting. For the latter, when using the on-camera flash, it doubles up as a trigger, controlling other Profoto flashes.

In terms of specs, the A10 has a max energy of 76Ws and a recycle time of 0.05-1 seconds, measuring in at 10.8cm tall and weighing just 560g, including battery. Users can expect up to 450 full-power flashes per charge.
