Shepton Snowdrops Competition 2025 call for entries
The Shepton Snowdrops Festival has officially launched its 2025 photography competition
The competition invites entries from photographers worldwide to explore this year’s theme, Treasures of Nature.
Submissions are now open, with categories for all ages, offering cash prizes of £300 for adults (18+), £100 for teens (12–17), and £50 for children (11 and under).
Following a successful 2024 competition that attracted entries from 28 countries, the festival encourages participants to capture the beauty and intricacies of the natural world– excluding animals – focusing instead on plants, landscapes and geological features.
Renowned garden photographer Jason Ingram, a multi-year finalist for the Garden Media Guild Photographer of the Year, will again serve as judge.
Ingram shared his excitement, noting, “We often take time to admire a beautiful flower
or a majestic tree, but how often do we stop to enjoy the pattern and colour of a windswept swathe of grass, the bark of a tree, the thorny stem and hip of a rose, a spectacular landscape, or the deep rocky crevasse of a cliff?
“With patient and focused observation through the lens of a camera you can capture
nature’s treasures – be they hidden, rare or in plain sight.”
He advises photographers to experiment with lighting and composition to enhance the subject’s depth and atmosphere.
