Sony supercharges A6700 for volume shoots

Sony has introduced a new series of smart license packages designed to meet the fast-paced demands of volume photography including school portraits, theme park snapshots and cruise ship souvenirs. Built for the A6700, the licenses deliver new levels of efficiency, consistency and automation, minimising post-production time and cutting operational costs.

The new suite expands on Sony’s Custom Grid Line license, which enables tailored in-camera overlays for consistent framing and sizing.

This is now joined by three major feature additions:

• Scan & Tag Licence, which streamlines data management by automatically linking subject ID information – via QR codes or barcodes – into the JPEG file’s EXIF metadata. This eliminates the need for external barcode readers or separate software, saving time and reducing errors.
• In-Camera Cropping allows users to apply pre-set aspect ratios during capture, generating near-final images instantly. Combined with the Grid Line licence, it supports fast turnaround by automatically saving both original and cropped versions. Vertical framing with the horizontal grip is also possible – no need to adjust tripods or reposition the camera.
• Volume Photography Commands provide precise control over colour temperature and shutter activation via Sony’s Camera Remote Toolkit. Shutter release is restricted until optimal capture conditions are met, ensuring sharp, consistent results in high-throughput environments.
