Sony ZV-E1 goes interchangeable

Posted on Apr 6, 2023

Sony maximises freedom for vloggers on the move with interchangeable lens capabilities of the ZV-E1

Prepare to vlog to your full potential with the latest upgrade to the Sony ZV-E1. Interchangeable lens cameras allow you to make the most out of your camera body, something only creators with larger cameras get to experience. Now vloggers and content creators on the move can too.

The ‘world’s smallest and lightest’ interchangeable lens vlogging camera sits at the helm of Sony’s Vlog camera range. Boasting E-mount, advanced technology and cinematic imagery, its refined position affords vloggers maximum creative freedom and versatility.

Focus on the subject

With the 35mm full-frame, back-illuminated CMOS Exmor R™ sensor, you can focus on the subject, promising low noise and gorgeous bokeh. Processing power has been given a boost, meaning data generated by the image sensor can be processed in real time, even in 4K at 120p. Video can be recorded at 4K with full-fame readout at 10-bit 4:2:2 without pixel binning. A 15+ stop latitude allows capture of natural looking images in a variety of lighting situations – standard ISO range extends from 80-102400 for stills and movies.

Cinematic aspirations

Sony claims the Cinematic Vlog Settings provide a way to create content straight out a feature film, by choosing from 10 creative looks. Achieve your creative vision with S-Cinetone, which is based on Sony’s Cinema Line tech, or shoot in the Intelligent Auto or Scene selection modes.

AI capabilities

Real-time Recognition AF incorporates AI processing that uses subject form data to recognise movement, including body and head positions. Unlike eye-recognition, this makes it possible to lock onto and track a subject facing away from the camera. It also differentiates between multiple subjects with differing postures, and detects birds, insects, cars, trains and aeroplanes for still and video.

The stabilisation unit and gyro sensors are optimised with algorithms to help deliver the full image quality potential, as camera shake is detected and corrected at 5 axes. While in Dynamic Active Mode stabilisation, camera shake is reduced by approximately 30% from previous models.

Breathing Compensation suppresses image shifts while focusing to maintain a consistent angle of view.

Other features

Engineered for smooth, confident shooting, the ZV-E1’s lightweight design ensures maximum portability.

The audio also promises big things. A three-capsule microphone with variable directivity works to reduce environmental noise

Yann Salmon Legagneur, head of imaging products & solutions marketing, Sony Europe said: “This is an incredible camera for creators who want the ultimate vlog camera, that’s powered by AI technology, to deliver the best in content.”
