Tamron’s first lens for Canon RF is the 11-20mm f/2.8
Tamron has announced the launch of its first lens for Canon RF mount cameras, the 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD
This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is designed for Canon APS-C mirrorless cameras with RF-S mounts.
Aperture and focal range
The new lens features a full frame equivalent focal length range of 17.6-32mm and a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture across the zoom range.
Tamron highlights its wide-angle capabilities as being suitable for landscape, architectural and indoor photography, while the telephoto end is designed to handle everyday photography with a natural field of view.
Size and weight
Weighing 340 grams and measuring 84.2mm in length, the lens is compact, lightweight and lends itself well to video. It is also moisture resistant, providing peace of mind when shooting in adverse conditions.
Optical construction and features
The lens consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including two aspherical elements, two low dispersion elements and one extra low dispersion element.
The lens also enjoys Tamron’s BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating, which the company says helps reduce ghosting and flare and improves image clarity in backlit conditions.
Performance
With a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m at the 11mm end and a magnification ratio of 1:4, the lens offers macro shooting capabilities.
Tamron says its RXD autofocus system is designed to operate quietly, making it suitable for both photography and video applications where noise may be a concern.
Availability and pricing
The Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD is set to be released in mid-December with a recommended retail price of £649.99. Visit the Tamron website for more information.
