Wellcome Photography Prize 2025 open for entries
The Wellcome Photography Prize, which invites impactful images from around the world, has officially opened entries for 2025
Photographers worldwide have been invited to submit impactful images in the Wellcome Photography Prize 2025 that capture diverse aspects of human health and resilience.
With a £52,000 prize fund, this year’s competition seeks to elevate visual storytelling within four core themes: mental health, infectious disease, climate and health and discovery research.
This year, the prize celebrates a significant return after the pandemic, with a London gallery exhibition scheduled for Summer 2025, highlighting top submissions from across the globe.
The prize features three categories: Striking Solo Photography for captivating single images, Storytelling Series for in-depth narratives, and a revitalised Scientific and Medical Imaging category – honouring Wellcome’s legacy in scientific imagery.
The top 25 entries will receive cash awards, with each category winner earning £10,000 and 22 others receiving £1,000 each.
The exhibition of the finalists’ work will be held in central London, also showing community storytelling projects from Khayelitsha, South Africa, in collaboration with Eh!woza.
Entries are open to all, from seasoned professionals to newcomers, with the deadline set for 14 January 2025.
Additional details, including entry guidelines, are available on the Wellcome website.
